Brian Stevens has raised collies under the Bannerstone prefix since 1974. Prior to that for two years it was known as Heatherdene Collies and was operated and owned by Brian and his dear departed wife Linda. After the Collie World lost one of its finest ambassadors in the mid-nineties Sherry O’Brien who had owned more than one Bannerstone collie joined Brian and they married in 1998 and she has been a major contributor in continuing the Bannerstone Legacy.
To date we have many Canadian Champions, American Champions, and Best in Show winners and Best Puppy in Show winners that we have bred or owned. We have won Specialties in both countries with our own breeding and have won The Collie Club of Canada National Best of Breed both varieties as well as all the other placements available. Quite a thrilling ride to say the least.
During the past 48 years, I have had the privilege of showing and training breeds in each and every group for clients and have the honour of obtaining many Best In Shows, All Group Placements, and Specialty wins. Added to the Showing of Dogs I have had the honor of teaching Handling classes for 35 years in conformation to a great many people, both at the Class and Seminar level. Many of these students have gone on to win all the awards available from Winners dog, Winners bitch, to all Group Placements and Best in Show or Best Puppy in Show. Some have had the top puppy or dog of their Breed in Canada.
The training classes started out in St John, N.B., and the last 5 years throughout Nova Scotia. Fortunately the classes in Saint John are still being held with my daughter Carrie Walsh carrying on the family legacy.
Throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Brian has been asked to judge countless all breed Sanction and Fun matches and Sweeps for Collies and Shepherds in Canada and the USA. Brian is known to have an “Eye for a Dog” and is a much sot after puppy evaluator in all breeds by their breeders or owners.
